The University of Alicante’s Institute for Research in Archaeology and Historical Heritage (INAPH), created at the University of Alicante by the Valencian government Decree 149/2014, of 19 September 2014, is made up with the purpose of promoting the study, interpretation and dissemination of historical heritage through the most updated and comprehensive archaeological approach.
The Institute aims to develop a competitive scientific project in the field of Archeology and Historical Heritage. Its main mission is to build a research programme that will generate and disseminate knowledge about the past from the present, adjusting scientific high quality, innovation, consulting, development and training to social demands, and participating in parallel in contemporary reflection on intervention, conservation and management of archaeological remains.
The Institute is composed of both male and female researchers from various disciplines related to Archeology and Historical Heritage (Archaeology, History, Architecture, Biotechnology, Legal Studies, Philology) and open to new members and plural perspectives.
Special consideration of the university site of La Alcudia will be taken by both research and knowledge. The Institute aims to help develop this archaeological site as a space for research and specialised dissemination, advising La Alcudia Foundation, and promoting it as a resource in the field of the activity related to heritage and culture.
